The class is only available to members who successfully passed Intermediate Obedience.

This is a national certification programme, consisting of four testing levels, developed and administered by Dogs New Zealand.  You can enrol your dog in CGC classes to learn all the skills required. CGC is about training good dogs for life. This means that the skills you learn aren’t just to pass the assessments, but for every day life. Some of the skills you learn will include:

  • Walking up and down steps, on lead in a controlled manner
  • Walking on a lead in a distracting environment
  • Waiting to be called, then coming when called
  • Greeting a friendly stranger (person and dogs)
  • Manners at the gate
  • Vehicle manners
  • Food manners

To sit the CGC assessment, your dog must be at least 12 months old.  You do not need to be a member of the Dogs NZ to participate. There are for levels of CGC:

  • Foundation
  • Bronze
  • Silver
  • Gold

Each level has increasing complex tasks to learn.
You can find more information on the DogsNZ CGC home page.

**Training fees for CGC do not include CGC assessment and Certificate fees.
