Class Information
General Information
Any breed or crossbred dogs are able welcome to train at our club.
They can start as soon as puppy vaccinations are complete (around 3 months), and older dogs are very welcome too.
Classes are run on a Tuesday night and start at 6 or 7pm. Classes are approximately 45 minutes long.
For classes, wear comfortable and weather appropriate clothing and shoes.
Your dog should have a plain collar or harness, and a lead at least one metre long (no retractable leads).
Make sure that you carry a poo bags to clean up after your dog if necessary.
Please make sure you are familiar with our club rules.
First Night of Term
The first night of term is for administrative tasks.
We sight your vaccination records and provide you with you enrolment pack.
Your instructor will give you a talk so that you know what to expect from classes and what to bring.
We ask that you leave your puppies/dogs at home on the first night of each new term (except for those in advanced classes).
We do not do any training on the first night.
Assesment Information
Each domestic class (aside from Junior) is assessed at the end of the term by your instructor.
The assessment is done on the final night of the term.
Usually, a week or two before there will be a mock assessment so that you know exactly what to expect.

Domestic Obedience Classes
Domestic obedience classes are aimed at helping your dog develop the basic obedience skills.
These include developing good manners when being around other dogs, in public places, and visiting a vet. You will learn how to communicate with your dog so that they know what you want and how to prevent or deal with undesirable behaviours.
All domestic obedience courses go over the period of nine weeks.
Advanced Obedience Classes
When you have passed the Intermediate Obedience, there are many options to continue your dog training journey. Consider joining one of our advanced classes. You will further solidify the skills you have developed, learn new skills, and will create an amazing bond with your dog.

Summer Venue
Term 1 and 4 | Manawatu Canine Centre grounds in Ashhurst
Winter Venue
Terms 2 and 3 | Awapuni Racecourse, Palmerston North
Our Instructors
Classes are taught by members of the club on a voluntary basis.
Training fees cover the costs of running the club and classes.
The club members who teach have owned and trained dogs for years.
Many compete with their dogs in Obedience, Rally-O, Agility, Working Trials, Sledding, and Conformation shows!
